a stray thought, reaction to your mention of Gary Cooper in regard to Billy P. of the Texas Commerce Bank – i always thought that Farrell Dobbs could have been a successful Gary Cooper impersonator; i’m enjoying your story (for at least the second time)

I like comments like Dayne’s. Proyect is tracing how his thinking got to where it finds itself. His overall interest has been to find a valid line through the differences on the Left. But he’s done it in a work of art, something that will always stray beyond the authors’—there are three of them—deliberate aims. So Gary Cooper and other miscellaneous riches come into it. Good.

Louis, This is very good but there are numerous typos in chapter 5.

This was a rough draft I got from the artist. When the project was dropped by Random House, there was no way to update it.

I was reminded of the LSA in Canada (the Canada branch of the SWP) when weed was banned on pain of expulsion. I went without weed for 5 years from 1979-1975.
When the debates became so sectarian we 18 left the LSA to form up the Socialist League with Ross Dowson and the FORWARD journal with Wayne Roberts. I became organizer for awhile.
