A good article. Unlike Burns, when it comes to the Vietnam War, reminiscent of the protagonist in Heinrich Boll’s novel, “Billiards at Half-Past Nine”, I’m most definitely “not reconciled”.

Ultimately, the Burns and Novick series ratifies the liberal ideology which brought on the war and the idea of American exceptionalism which makes such toxic endeavors possible.
What more is there to say, except that this disingenuous attempt to salve the alleged wounds of Vietnam, which was beginning to be really forgotten, has had to invent new wounds in order to bind them up. Beyond that, under the layers of liberal goo with which this exercise in mythbuilding is slathered, there is a cake of pure poison: now that everyone has been forgiven and we’ve even talked to the valiant if misguided foe, you had better get on board with the exceptionalist ideology or else.
There’s no bully like a liberal bully, especially when his friend The Intelligent Conservative (Koch brothers) is standing at this side with a hammer behind his back.
