  1. The colours are very lurid. Its like using colour to issue a kind of warning I think, from the excessive colours of Trumps head and hair , the colour all looks unhealthy somehow, poisoned. I remember reading Lavinia Greenlaw’s memoir, ‘The Importance of Music to Girls’ and she wrote of the shock of seeing the cover of the Sex Pistols ‘Never Mind the Bollocks’ , ‘the acid yellow and the bubble-gum pink’, so different to the floral, vegetal, hippie colours. For her it was a great thing but I think the world needs more of the vegetal now, and the painting warns of how ugly the world looks when one allows the corrupt wrong people to control the direction of everything – all the people going to Hell.
