I know I’m not addressing the writer here, but I have a quibble. The Levant Front are definitely not Islamic fundamentalists in the vein of Al-Nusra or Daesh. However, I think comparing them to “Liberation Theology” Christians is a big exaggeration; as far as I know, they are not interested in fusing their religion with leftist/anticapitalist thought, in the same way the Iranian Mujahedin-e-Khalq, or other “Islamic socialism” esque projects.
