Bernie Sanders is consistent

GEORGE STEPHANOPOULOS (ABC NEWS)

(Off-camera) You’re asking for a lot of shakeup. Is it really possible for someone who calls themselves a socialist to be elected president of the United States?

SENATOR BERNIE SANDERS (IND) (VERMONT)

Well, so long as we know what democratic socialism is. If we know that in countries in Scandinavia, like Denmark, Norway, they are very democratic countries. Obviously, their vote of turnout is a lot higher than it is in the United States. In those countries, health care is the right of all people. In those countries, college education, graduate school is free. In those countries, retirement benefits, childcare are stronger than the United States of America. And in those countries, by and large, government works for ordinary people in the middle class rather than, as is the case right now in our country, for the billionaire class.

KABUL, Afghanistan — Two European allies of the United States have been directly participating in so-called kill decisions against insurgents in Afghanistan despite rules prohibiting them from doing so, according to two senior Western officials with knowledge of the operations.

The accusations concern airstrikes, mostly by drones, that American officials have justified as part of a lasting counterterrorism mission agreed to with the Afghan government. However, some of the strikes have come under question as being far more aggressive than the security deal allows for.

The two countries said to be improperly involved in approving strike decisions — Germany, a NATO member of the coalition in Afghanistan, and Sweden, which is not a member of NATO — as well as a spokesman for the American-led military coalition all denied that anyone other than the United States military had been involved in targeting insurgents

  1. Sanders believes that we should support the military adventures of the Saudis:

“In another interview again with Wolf Blitzer in May, Sanders did correctly note that as a result of the Iraq invasion, “we’ve destabilized the region, we’ve given rise to Al-Qaeda, ISIS.” But then he actually called for more intervention:

“What we need now, and this is not easy stuff, I think the President is trying, you need to bring together an international coalition, Wolf, led by the Muslim countries themselves! Saudi Arabia is the third largest military budget in the world they’re going to have to get their hands dirty in this fight. We should be supporting, but at the end of the day this is fight over what Islam is about, the soul of Islam, we should support those countries taking on ISIS.”

Progressives in the U.S. are supposed to look toward the Saudi monarchy to save the soul of Islam?”

  2. After watching Bernie Sanders in several interviews and his performance during the democratic debate it became painfully obvious to me anyway that he is not a “democratic socialist” but rather a confused flip flopper who is best described as a “clinton suck up” democrat. He defended her my man you need to get that she is your OPPONENT not your friend and to conclude how exactly is this man a socialist when he failed to explain what socialism stands for in laymens terms and spoke so fast am sure most people didn’t pick up on most of his commentary. Talking about Denmark and raising taxes on the rich does NOT make you a socialist. Mr. Sanders should brush up by reading the manifesto in its entirety. He just reminds me a bit of Sam Webb and the CPUSA otherwise known as “faux marxists”. Sanders appeared to have his head buried deep up Hillary’s ass during that debate when the email questions popped up. Is ok Sam Webb and company are buried up her tookus just as deep. Socialist bullshit Bernie he is a total fake!

  3. One more thing I wanted to add I read an article online that Sanders had supported a law that was backed by the NRA AND that Mr. Sanders has a high rating with that organization. The writer said he has some serious explaning to do to his supporters most of whom are far-left and pro-gun control. This is what I mean about him don’t know many socialists or leftists who support the NRA and laws that they support most who do are very far right tea party neo-con republican fascists. So my comment about Bernie may have been harsh but I want REAL socialism and not someone who supports tea party radical politics that are in NRA social circles. And one more comment I love Denmark a great country their policies and system of government is to me as close to the utopia that us lefties only dream of. Never say never a system as flawed as ours can be changed nothing is impossible. Wish I could move there at least they respect disabled persons with respect
