  1. Even Islamists have been known to use the Che imagery. Mujahedin in Afghanistan and Pakistan were occasionally seen with it in the 1980s – Che is an all-purpose symbol of rebellion not necessarily linked to his actual left-wing politics.
There is little that is obviously socialist in motivation about these “revolutions” in the Arab world, and drawing attention to a single Che picture might be considered clutching at straws.

  2. How did you come up with the weird tag Victorystooge?

  3. “Mark Victorystooge” is a cartoon character dreamt up by Joe Sacco (see “Notes From A Defeatist”). MV is a caricature Trotskyist whose chat-up line to his girl friend consists of defending the Brest-Litovsk treaty of 1918. He is forced to denounce his girl friend for exhibiting Stalinist tendencies, and when the Trotskyist revolution happens (this is a cartoon, after all) he is executed for not showing enough enthusiasm for “smashing in the heads of industrialist oppressors like so many pumpkins”.
Weird? Perhaps. But not a million miles removed from Trots I have known.
