Leon Botstein in 1975, just after becoming the president of Bard College

John Turturro as Barton Fink

  1. So Botstein’s been in power there since 1975! What the hell kind of an institution is this? Let’s see. Botstein’s been the dictator at Bard longer than Stalin ran the USSR; longer than Mayor Daley ran Chicago; and, in the unfortunate event he lives a couple more years, longer than even J. Edgar Hoover ran the FBI. Prospective students should avoid this shithole fiefdom like the plague.

  2. The fictitious character Barton Fink looks a lot less phony than the insurance salesman.

  3. And just like Barton Fink, Botstein has no connection to the common man.
